OK, I'll kick things off. The trailers, especially the last one, have gotten me pretty pumped up about seeing Ep2. I'm taking a few hours off work Monday to go stand in line to buy tickets for Thursday's show. Let's hope Lucas did a better job with the script than he did with the title...
Four words: Yoda with a lightsaber!
Just saw the 4pm showing opening day. Now THAT is more like it! Ep2 is so much better than Ep1, I don't even know where to begin. It actually has real plot development, complete with all the dark undertones we grew to love in Ep5 (ESB). This movie sets up a lot of the state of affairs that we were introduced to in the original trilogy, which makes more of the plot make sense because you can see where they're going with it. Most of the slapstick comedy from Ep1 has disappeared, thankfully. There are still a few comical lines here & there, but never so much that it gets annoying. The fight scenes are truly incredible. The vehicle designs were also much more creative than those from Ep1, I thought. Overall, I was very happy, and I'll definitely be seeing it again before it leaves the theaters.
Having grown up on the Star Wars Trilliogy and being old enough to have seen the origional movies in the theater, Star Wars has a special place in my heart. Which was broken, stomped on, and shattered by Episode I. There were a few good points, although not disguised, such as the forshadowing of Anakin's fall etc... Bad points were the totally lame battle droids and the whole point of Naboo being important, and I won't even mention JJB. however.... Episode II has taken the piece and with the help of all the Kings Men and all the Kings Horses, put the universe back together again. I don't know where to begin, but all that was lacking with the first movie was fixed for this one. I still they they are not using Sam Jackson as an actor well enough, think if Mace Windu was more like Jewels from Pulp Fiction (the last scene in the diner). The scene with Annie (probably why he went to the dark side with a name like that) and Portman's character rolling in the grass was a bit much, but I cannot say how impressed i was. Espically since this entire prequell is supposed to be dark as a republic under peace for 1,000's of years is ripped and torn apart. And episode III promises to be even darker as the Jedi are exterminated, Anakin turns and the Emperor takes command. Only one thing bothers me that may be explained to have some signifiance in Episode III, but to this point, the fact that Anakin built C3PO seems totally wacky and out of place. Guess I'll have to wait 3 bloody long years to find out. One thing I did find quite humorous is the fact that Jar Jar is responsible for allowing Palpatine more power and thus giving him the army he needs to destroy the republic. just my humble opinion.
I liked the movie, will always think of the day I first saw starwars.
