My Camera Gear

Since my collection of photography equipment is endlessly (it would seem) increasing, I figured it'd be helpful to document my collection and list some of the stuff that I'd really like to add to that collection, funds permitting.

Stuff I Wish I Owned

Yes, there is some left that I don't own. In fact, there are lots of things that would increase my capabilities, budget permitting. Here's the short list of what I'd like to get.

Bodies
  • Someday it'd be fun to play with a 6x6 or 6x7 medium format setup

Lenses

  • Canon 70-200 f/2.8 IS. Commercial work is driving this one. A factory refurb of the first version of this lens sells for $1600. After using my manual focus Nikkor 135/2.8 on a few pro jobs, I'm not sure if I want to bother finding a Tamron SP 80-200mm f/2.8 or not. It'd be a $1000+ cheaper, but without IS, and focusing manually in the dim lighting where I most need f/2.8 isn't easy.
  • A mid-range zoom with IS and fast focusing, with f/2.8 at least somewhere in the zoom range. Again, commercial work is driving this one. I'm leaning toward the first one:
    • Sigma 17-70mm f/2.8-4 OS HSM, which is the newer version of the lens I have now, adding HSM, OS, and a slightly faster aperture at 70mm.
    • If I wanted to give up the 55-70mm range and macro capability in favor of 70mm f/2.8 and better optics, I'd get the Canon 17-55/2.8 IS.
    • If I wanted to give up the 50-70mm range and macro capability in favor of 70mm f/2.8 without the Canon price tag, I'd get the Sigma 17-50/2.8 OS HSM.
  • Peleng 8mm fisheye (or Samyang)
  • Perhaps a Vivitar 28/2 Close Focus
  • Minolta Rokkor-X 58mm f/1.2 or Canon FL 55mm f/1.2
  • 85mm f/2 or faster prime (brand?)
  • Mid-range 1:1 macro:
    • Voigtlander Macro APO-Lanthar 125/2.5 SL
    • Vivitar 90/2.8
    • Vivitar/Kiron 105/2.8
    • Micro-Nikkor 105/2.5
    • Tamron SP 90/2.5 (72A, not 52B or 52BB)
  • 180mm-ish 1:1 macro lens
  • Tamron or Kenko 1.4x teleconverter (EF mount)
Filters & adapters
